Hocus Pocus
Hocus Pocus is a 1993 live action Disney film starring Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker as three witch sisters, Winifred, Mary, and Sarah Sanderson. In 1693 Salem, they are capturing children and taking their life force to keep themselves young forever. When they take Thackery Binx's little sister Emily, he follows and tries to rescue her. They catch him and turn him into a cat, doomed to live out his life forever as a feline until someone destroys the witches.
They are caught by the townspeople and executed, but before their deaths Winifred casts a spell. On All Hallow's Eve when the moon is round, if someone lights a black flame candle, they will be brought back to life. In 1993 Salem, Max, his little sister Dani, and a fellow classmate of Max's, Allison, visit the old Sanderson house on Halloween, and Max lights the black flame candle.
A series of comical events ensue, and this film has become such a favorite of mine, and really and truly a classic. It plays every Halloween, and this past year celebrated its 20th year.
